Terms of Service
Last updated 26 August 2026
These are the rules for using LifeHQ. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable. By creating an account you agree to them.
1. Who you are agreeing with
LifeHQ is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] (“we”, “us”). “You” means the person using the account. You must be at least [MINIMUM AGE] to use LifeHQ, and if you are using it for an organisation you confirm you may agree to these terms on its behalf.
2. Your account
- Give an email address that reaches you. It is how we contact you about your account.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account unless you have told us it is compromised.
- One person per account. Share a calendar, not a login.
3. Your content is yours
Everything you put into LifeHQ stays yours. We claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to run the service: to store your content, transmit it, back it up, and display it to you and to anyone you have deliberately shared it with. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account, apart from backups already taken, which age out.
We do not use your content to train machine-learning models, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising.
4. What you must not do
- Break the law with it, or use it to harm someone.
- Store other people’s personal information without a proper reason. The contacts feature exists for your own address book, not for building a list about people who would object.
- Attack the service: probing for holes, overwhelming it with requests, or trying to reach another user’s data.
- Attempt to escape the plugin sandbox, or ship a plugin that does.
- Resell LifeHQ as your own service.
Security research is welcome when done in good faith against your own account. Tell us what you find at [SECURITY CONTACT EMAIL] before telling anyone else, and we will not pursue you for it.
5. Sharing
Sharing is your decision and your responsibility. A public subscribe link is readable by anyone who has it, without signing in — if you post it somewhere public, it is public. Revoke it from Settings and it stops working immediately.
6. Plugins
Plugins written by other people are their software, not ours. We review submissions before publication and we sandbox everything that runs, but:
- You choose what to install, and the permissions are listed before you press the button. Read them.
- We do not warrant third-party plugins. Review reduces risk; it cannot make a guarantee about software we did not write.
- We can remove any plugin at any time — immediately and without notice if we think it is unsafe. It stops working everywhere at once; your data is untouched.
7. If you build plugins
Applying for a developer account means agreeing to this section as well.
- Ask for the least you need. Requesting permissions your plugin does not use is the most common reason a submission is sent back.
- Say what you do with data. If your plugin sends anything to your own servers, you must declare the destination and publish your own privacy policy. Your policy governs that data, not ours.
- Submit readable source. No obfuscation, no minification, no fetching code at runtime. If we cannot read what it does, we will not publish it.
- What we approve is what ships. Each version is pinned to a hash of the reviewed bundle. You cannot swap the code afterwards; publish a new version instead.
- You keep your copyright, and grant us permission to host and distribute your plugin to users who install it, for as long as it is published.
- We can suspend a plugin or a developer account for breaking these rules, or where we have a well-founded safety concern. Where we reasonably can, we will say why first.
- Approval is not endorsement, and it is not a security guarantee to your users. You remain responsible for your own software.
8. Availability
LifeHQ is provided as-is. We do not promise a particular uptime, and we may take it down for maintenance. It is not a system of record: keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. The Export everything button in Settings exists for exactly that, and we would rather you used it regularly than trusted us not to have a bad day.
Alarms and reminders depend on networks, browsers and notification services we do not control. Do not rely on LifeHQ for anything safety-critical — medication, a flight, anything where a missed alert genuinely matters.
9. Plans, payment and cancellation
What is free, and what is not
LifeHQ is free to use on one device. Every feature is included; nothing is held back for a paid plan, and nothing you have already put in is ever moved behind a paywall. A free account may move to a different device up to five times; after that, signing in on a new device requires a paid plan. Signing out and back in on the same device does not count as a move.
Two paid plans unlock further devices and sharing a calendar with another account:
- Plus — US$3 per month, one person.
- Plus Family — US$12 per month, covering up to six accounts including the payer. Each person keeps their own separate account and their own private data; only the subscription is shared.
Prices are in US dollars and [exclude / include] any sales tax or VAT, which is calculated at checkout where it applies.
How billing works
- Payments are taken by Stripe, not by us. We never see or store your card number. Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy govern the payment itself.
- It is a monthly subscription and it renews automatically on the same day each month until you cancel. You are authorising that recurring charge when you subscribe.
- You will be charged the price shown at checkout. If we change the price of a plan you are already on, we will tell you at least [30 days] beforehand and the new price will only apply from a renewal after that notice. You can cancel instead.
- If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it. Your paid features keep working until the period you have already paid for runs out; we do not cut you off mid-period over a declined card.
Cancelling
- Cancel yourself, at any time, from Settings → Plan. It takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; you keep the paid features until then, and you are not charged again.
- Nothing is deleted when a subscription ends. Your account reverts to the free plan: all of your data is still there, and you return to one device. Calendars you had already shared stop being editable by you as a paid feature, but neither the calendar nor its contents are removed.
- Ending a Plus Family plan returns every member to the free plan. Their accounts and data are untouched.
Refunds
- If you are in the UK or EU, you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of subscribing. Because the service is available immediately, you agree that it starts straight away; if you then cancel within those 14 days you are entitled to a refund of the amount proportionate to what you have not used. Nothing here limits that right.
- Otherwise, our policy is [describe: e.g. a full refund within 14 days of a charge, no questions asked]. Ask at the contact address below.
- If we close your account for breaking these terms, we do not refund the remainder of the period.
Fair use of a household plan
Plus Family is for one household — the people you actually live with or share a life with. It is not a way for a group of unrelated people to split a subscription six ways. We would rather say that plainly than police it, but we may ask about, and ultimately close, an account that is clearly being resold or shared as a service.
10. Ending it
- You can leave at any time. Export your data first — closing an account deletes your content.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or where we must for legal or safety reasons. Except where that is impossible or unwise, we will tell you why and give you a chance to export first.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or lost data. Our total liability to you is limited to [LIABILITY CAP].
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded — and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected by any of this.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. For material changes we will give notice in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use LifeHQ afterwards means accepting the new version; if you do not, close your account and take your data with you.
13. Law
These terms are governed by the law of [JURISDICTION], and its courts have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer, you keep the right to bring proceedings where you live.
